An excellent way to get the antioxidant benefits from fruits and vegetables is to juice them. Because the pulp is taken out, you can better absorb the nutrients. Put the pulp in your garden. Juice is easy to digest. It contains concentrated nutrients that start to heal the body by nourishing the bloodstream. When a body is in a weakened state, even fruits and vegetables can be difficult to digest. But juiced foods require little or no digestion, so the healing nutrients of the raw fruits and vegetables are absorbed into the blood stream, bypassing the digestive tract.

Commercially produced juices are pasteurized, which means the vegetables or fruits have been heated about 120 degrees F. This destroys all enzymes. Most commercial juices contain food colorings, preservatives, synthetic vitamins, salt, and sugar in the form of corn syrup.

An organic food is produced without the use of artificial fertilizers, conventional pesticides, and human waste or sewage sludge. Studies in children after eating non-organic foods show high pesticide levels in their blood and tests on children eating non-organic show much lower to none.

Do organic fruits and vegetables have more antioxidant power than non-organic? A recent research shows that they do. The result was that organic produce contain 20% more antioxidants in every portion than non-organic.

Several other studies found various positive things about organic fruit. It was discovered that the organically produced apple is much sweeter and firmer than apples conventionally grown.

The four year research showed that organically produced milk has 60% more antioxidants that conventionally produced milk.

The results were that the ingredient produced in the organic produce will certainly help in fighting many deadly diseases like cancer, tumors, and heart disease.

Many other studies have also suggested that higher nutritional values like vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants are found in organic foods. I think that organic fruits, vegetables, and milk can truly be called antioxidant foods!

Fruits need to be eaten before a meal, not during or after. They digest so quickly that they will be out of the stomach in 30 minutes. Melons should always be eaten alone and not combined with other fruits or vegetables. They are sweet, tasty antioxidant foods.

Proteins consist of amino acids and our body uses 20 different amino acids. There are 8 amino acids that our body can’t produce itself. They are called essential amino acids and our bodies have to get them through nutrition. There are many fruits or vegetables that contain all 8 essential amino acids in the single fruit or vegetable. The fruits that contain all 8 are bananas, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

The vegetables that contain all 8 amino acids are potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, corn, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, okra, peas, summer squash and kale.

What powerful healing tools we hold in our hands! Fruits and vegetables! I need to remind myself of the benefits of antioxidant foods and try to eat more every day!
