Age Gracefully and Stop Stressing Out Over the Whole Thing!
Botox is being talked about everywhere. Women don't want to age gracefully. They don't want to age at all! Who does? I think that the best botox is to learn to accept yourself as you are. Now I don’t mean give up your hair coloring or go without make-up. But growing older is a fact of life. I like to say “age gracefully.” And I don’t give this advice lightly. If you are happy with yourself on the inside, it will come through as a beautiful glow on your face and that will be more attractive to people than some process that you will have to keep repeating ever so often. See below how I am keeping my mind and brain active and youthful. To me, this is 90% of aging gracefully!
People will admire you for having self confidence and pride in your life. This comes from learning new things and putting forth a “being satisfied with yourself” attitude. This isn’t an overnight fix. It comes from accepting aging gracefully. I have seen many women who have done this and they are beautiful, vivacious people. I would much rather pattern my “older years” after one of these satisfied women rather than after a movie star who has had 12 face lifts.
This is an on going process; the process of accepting your age. I want to change the phrase to
age gracefully.
If we are still breathing at the start of another day, we have aged. This is a fact. It is our mentality toward aging that keeps us young or makes us depressed and frustrated. Nobody likes the word old. Sometimes people will say that somebody is 96 years young. So even old people must not like the word! Others are saying by the time they are 30 that they are getting old.
Magazines and movies and commercials and … well, everything, demands that we be young and not age. We have to remember that the photos of the beautiful girls and women are touched up to show absolute perfection. These stars haven't heard my age gracefully theory! Most people have caught on to that fact but some still gaze at the creations as if they can achieve that perfection. Most of us have caught on that the Hollywood stars’ lives are chaotic and falling apart. Again, some ignore this information and still long to be like them and have money, fame, and recognition.
How can we accept this fact of life that we all will age and die eventually? I don’t want to sound morbid but this is what will happen. I am trying to invest in things that will endure. I am concentrating on learning more and increasing my knowledge of things that interest me. I want to keep my mind sharp and alert and age gracefully.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to look old. But there are some things that happen that you just can’t help! Till I was 50 I wore my hair long. Now it has thinned some and doesn’t look good long. Of course, at a certain age you can’t keep wearing your hair like you did when you were 30! What a relief it was for me to accept this fact. And enjoy my new short hair style.
I can’t help that my neck is “falling” and isn’t as tight as it was when I was 20. I could go get a face lift every 5 years, or I can accept it and know that my worth isn’t in my face and neck, but in my caring about people and helping them. This way I can age gracefully and enjoy life!
I have never been “slim and trim” but during menopause I gained an extra 25 pounds. I knew I had to make a decision to eat healthy so I could lose the weight and keep it off. Being a size 11-12 keeps me feeling young. (I am 5’ 2” so you know I’m not skinny!) But there is commitment and work that is involved. I have to watch what I eat. I juice fresh fruits and vegetables every morning. They are full of
antioxidants
that boost my immune system.
And I exercise regularly at Curves because it’s worth it to me! Even though I try to stay at this weight, my body just doesn’t look like it did when I was 25 or 30. Or even 40! But that’s okay! If I fret over this daily, I am missing important things in life. I can’t go around depressed because something natural that happens to everybody is happening to me!
Another way to age gracefully is to keep your mind active. Some people don't count this as a way to stay young. But if you are constantly learning new things and growing mentally, it will show in your face, your smile, and your self confidence, and your attitude. If they are positive, these 4 things will project to others a beauty and youthfulness that truly comes from within. I made this website through SiteBuildIt.
